Ravens

"One does not earn a Feather for words. It must be deserved."

The settlement of Ravens is located in a mountain gorge near a waterfall and an old ruined dam. The houses are built into the cliffs, standing on terraces and connected by bridges over the river. Here live hunters, craftsmen, and gatherers, and the sound of water has long become a part of life for every resident.

ABOUT THE SETTLEMENT

Context: settlements / overview

The modern settlement of Ravens is located in the old mines of the Rocky Blackfaces near a waterfall and a ruined dam. Many generations ago, the tribe lived among the swamps in a village in the trees, escaping from the Tumargs and other swamp creatures. Later, hunters discovered the old mines and a convenient gorge, after which the tribe gradually moved here.

Today, Ravens is one of the largest settlements in the region. The foundation of their life consists of hunting, resource extraction from the ruins of the old world, skin processing, fat production, and trade. After the arrival of the Green Grass people, the settlement began to expand and adopt agriculture.

"If you can help — help. Otherwise, why do you have this power?"

RESIDENTS AND FACTIONS

Ravens

Faction / residents

The Ravens are a tribe of hunters, trackers, and gatherers who live by the laws of merit and personal achievement. From an early age, children participate in trials, learning to survive far from the settlement, hunt, protect others, and make decisions in dangerous situations. Each successfully completed trial earns the hunter a new feather. Feathers are not decorations but a mark of recognition for contributions to the tribe. They are awarded for bravery, successful hunting, helping others, contributing to the development of the settlement, discoveries during expeditions, and wise decisions. Those who manage to collect enough feathers by the age of thirty and prove their worth to the tribe earn the right to paint special markings on their faces. After this, they can participate in the selection for the Wing Council — the governing body of the settlement. When selecting, not only combat skills are considered, but also the ability to think, lead people, and care for the future of the Ravens. Despite their harsh way of life, the Ravens highly value mutual assistance. Every member of the tribe knows that one day their life may depend on the person standing next to them on a bridge, in the forest, or among the ruins of the old world.

Trade importance

The Ravens are the main suppliers of hides, fat, and glass obtained from the ruins. Thanks to their constant raids, a large portion of the materials from the old world enters the region through them. In exchange, the settlement receives agricultural crops, tools, and goods that are difficult to produce in the mountains.
